Dave is prone to write a lot of honkytonkin' country tunes and shoe horned this one into the band. This track was later re-recorded and released by Dave's sprawling "4-H Music" (Hard Hittin' Hillbilly Honkytonk) project: The Gin Palace Jesters complete will steel guitar on the Jesters debut album "Honkytonk Fools" from 2004 on Rhythm Bomb Records. Inspiration for this song came when driving down the highway on a tour and listening to Paul Howard's Western swing tune "I'm Drinking All My Troubles Away." The question was posed by someone in the van, "I wonder what happens when he's finally drunk all his troubles away?" Dave set about to answer the question. In case anyone is counting along the protagonist drinks a total of 2 shots + 1 pint ( 8 shots in a pint) + 1 beer + 3 jiggers (same as 3 shots with different container name). So in total we've got 2+1+8+3=14 drinks over the course of approximately 8 hours (6pm-2am?) which puts our protagonist at BLOTTO level but like, not death level. Point is...there was some thought to the mathematics on this story.

Lyrics

Well I'd go if I knew where I was goin' maybe
I'd leave if I had me a home with my baby
Don't know where I am
Don't know who I am....
I've drunk all my troubles away.

When I left this evening I had problems
But since I've forgotten them all
Because I had me two shots of bourbon
and a pint of Cuervo Especial
Then I had me an ice cold long neck
& 3 jiggers of Tanqueray
I don't know where I am
I don't know who I am
I've drunk all my troubles away

Well it ain't like I need money
But the people I owe sure do
They keep sending me nasty letters
& calling in the afternoons
Well my honey she ain't sweet for me
Whatever the hell is her name
I don't know where she is
I don't know who she is
I've drunk all my troubles away

Well I needed me a new carburetor
But I smashed my car on Chestnut Ridge
& now I ain't got a problem
I left it wrapped around a tree in a ditch
So I staggered over here to the somethin' somethin' lounge
& I been here every since
I don't know where I am
I don't know who I am
I've drunk all my troubles away.
