The Clash and Stiff Little Fingers were important bands in our formative years and when Joe Strummer suddenly passed at age 50 it was a shock. Later Jake Burns from SLF wrote a touching song in honor of Joe and we got to thinking about how someone should be writing a song for Jake Burns so...We went and did it. It's partly for Jake doing what he does after all this time but also we suppose it's a middle finger to all the people in our own lives who thought we should "grow up" and stop messing around in a rock and roll band. Well, this is who we are as humans so if you don't like it you know what to do? Final thoughts are this song has a flavor very much like an early tune from The Jam which is another power trio who've influenced us very much. WINNING!

Lyrics

I'm still standing here after all this time watching the days go by
& I'm still doing what I love to do even if you don't approve
& you may think that this life of mine is just a waste of time
But I know the things I do you'll never do

I'm still standing here after all this time...I'm still standing
I'm still standing here after all this time...I'm still standing
I'm still standing, I'm still standing, I'm still standing here.

I looked up at you for so long as you looked down your nose at me
& I used to care just what you thought of me but those days are history
& your subterfuge couldn't keep me down & now you ain't around
You lead your life & I'll lead mine.

I'm still standing here after all this time...I'm still standing
I'm still standing here after all this time...I'm still standing
I'm still standing, I'm still standing, I'm still standing here.

I heard you smiled behind my back when things went wrong, and for how long?
I bet you thought I'd quit but tonight, I'm up here doin' it!

I'm still standing here after all this time...I'm still standing
I'm still standing here after all this time...I'm still standing
I'm still standing, I'm still standing, I'm still standing here.
